BBQ Fundraiser and Awareness Event, lots of free giveaways and info!
On July 28, Canada will join with groups around the world to raise public awareness about hepatitis B and C, two forms of life-threatening liver disease. One in 12 people worldwide are living with hepatitis B or C – including 600,000 Canadians. The problem is many do not even know it. One in five people are unaware of their infection, as most people (more than 90%) infected with hepatitis C have either no symptoms or exhibit only mild symptoms of illness decades after infection. These are chronic, lifelong viral infections that can affect anyone from any walk of life.
The focus of the World Hepatitis Day campaign is to make people aware of hepatitis B and C, the risk factors involved and the need for testing if they think they might have been infected. HIV West Yellowhead provides programs and services to support individuals affected by HIV and Hepatitis C so stop by for some BBQ and have your questions answered!
